[OPLINTECH] Coshocton County Courthouse free wifi shutdown due to illegal download

For the libraries I support that have content filtering in place for
CIPA, the content filtering covers the WiFi as well. The content filter,
DansGuardian (open source) does a pretty good job of blocking
inappropriate and illegal content, but it is certainly not foolproof.
Aside from that, it's down to the library's Internet AUP, which
obviously is no deterrent!
I don't know of any current technology within any of my clients' budgets
that can really, truly prohibit illegal movie downloads based on the
download itself (as opposed to filtering a known website or keyword
content on the page linking to a download). The closest technology I can
think of that actually identifies video content itself is the video
search technology that Google is/was working on a few years ago. I don't
know off-hand what ever became of it, though.
Hopefully someone has better input here!
