Upper Arlington Public LibrarySystems Developer – full-time

*Summary of Duties: *
- Researches, designs, purchases, tests, and implements Information
Technology solutions for staff and public computing hardware and software.
- Oversees quality and accuracy of content contained on the library
website; posts website content in collaboration with other library staff.
- Oversees the design, development, enhancement, troubleshooting and
expansion of web services.
- Manages support requests from creation to completion.
- Advises on the cost/benefit analyses of technologies.
- Develops solutions to problems in-house to minimize charges by outside
contractors.
- Maintains contact with vendors, writes proposals and manages vendor
contracts for Information Technology resources.
- Designs and builds network workstations and installs software.
- Creates and maintains department documentation
- Updates workstations with new releases of software.
- Installs new software for patron and staff use.
- Provides support to users of Virtua online catalog and associated
hardware.
· Maintains security of library data, data backups, and information
systems.
· Maintains the low-vision workstation (JAWS).
- Maintains filtering software, anti-virus systems and firewall software
and hardware.
- Supplies and manages the accessibility features in computer software
and workstations.
- Assists the public on the use of the network and Internet.
- Maintains the catalog kiosks in the library.
- Provides assistance to staff and patrons in the use of computer
hardware and software in a courteous, professional manner.
- Diagnoses and corrects problems with computer hardware, software, and
networks.
- Responds to patron questions and situations in accordance with library
policy and in a manner to enhance the reputation of the library as a public
service organization.
- Follows library safety and emergency policies and procedures.
- Reports maintenance and safety issues to supervisor and/or Facilities
personnel.
- Performs related duties as required.

*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: *
· College degree; coursework in Information Technology preferred
· Three to five years of relevant experience in computer operations,
maintenance and applications preferred
· Must be available to be on call evenings and weekends
· Knowledge in networking, backup solutions, security and operating
system functions of Windows, Linux, and OS X
· Knowledge of Dreamweaver, Flash, PHP, CSS, HTML, XHTML, Photoshop,
Contribute (or other content management system)
· Familiarity with blogs, podcasting and other Web 2.0 tools
· Knowledge of web standards, web usability and accessibility
guidelines
· Knowledge in diagnosing and resolving problems with the computer
network, hardware and software
· Knowledge of Symantec Ghost and Windows Server 2003 preferred
· Effective interpersonal skills
· Competent in the use of Windows-based computer programs
· Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
· Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of insurance required

Full-time including some evenings and weekends and on-call coverage

*Starting Salary: *
$ 34,320/annually
