[OPLINTECH] My Opinion On VNC

I much prefer RDP to VNC, but have been forced to use VNC on some of my servers because Envisionware PC Reservation doesn't play nice with RDP. I've tried RealVNC, UltraVNC, and TightVNC before settling on TightVNC mostly because it has a smaller footprint and it seems to be the best at emulating a CTRL+ALT+DEL.

UltraVnc will be extremely slow on Windows 7 and Vista machines but it is easy to fix.
For Windows 7, put the helpdesk exe in compatibility mode- you have to do it only one time and it will work from then on. Right click on the helpdesk icon. Go to properties, compatibility tab. Check 'disable composition' and click on 'run as administrator'.

I previously used UltraVNC but switched to TightVNC. It is free and is alot faster than UltraVNC. UltraVNC was very slow when remoting into our branch to work on PCs over a VPN.

is anyone out there using vnc with windows 7? I just recently downloaded
enterprise edition ver. 6.9.5.0 for a trail run. I have not been
successful in getting it to work with win 7 machines and am hoping for some
pointers.
thanks
