Ours is also on 24/7. I have Untangle in bridge mode on IPCop's Blue 
network. Untangle's Application Control Lite blocks protocols. I have it 
set up to block P2P. I disabled the Captive Portal because there were 
instances where devices wouldn't show the Use Policy which meant patrons 
couldn't access the Internet.

Anecdote: Last Wed a patron was filling out online applications and was 
in the middle of one when we closed. I told her if she parked closer to 
the building she would still get a signal. When we left she was in her 
car working on her laptop.
