[OPLINTECH] Avast Free for Education

We bought Avast Pro from a re-seller here in the US - J.R. Guthrie with
Advantage Micro Corporation  jr at advantage77.com - for $29.12 per PC for a
3-year license and then they granted us a 50% discount making our final cost
per PC for 3 years $14.52.  
Can't beat the price for full coverage that really works and does not slow
our PCs down.  I have not had 1 complaint about it from patrons or staff in
over 5 years now.  J.R. Is really nice guy and was very helpful in getting
this set up for me.

Is anyone using the Avast Free for Education program?  Public libraries
qualify for their business class Endpoint Security Suite for free.  I have
been using Symantic Endpoint Protection in managed mode which I bought from
Techsoup, but it needs renewed.  Symantec won't stop calling to let me know
it needs renewed.  Their quote was $1800 for 1 year and $4300 for 3 years
for 75 clients.  I know it is a necessary evil but I hate paying that kind
of money for something that just slows down your computer.


The only problem with the Avast Free for Education program is that while you
get the software for free you have to pay for support.


Any thoughts?
