We still use many Windows PC's but also linux and open source products.
Don't have exact amounts but am certain we have save many thousands of dollars
over the years.

We have used openSUSE for many years for:
   3 virtual website servers.
An Education virtual server serving 5 thin clients in children's dept.
(Only 1 now as we have Early Literacy Stations)
1 virtual PC for monitoring with Wireshark
1 of the children's staff used for about 3 years
Director for 4 or 5 years
Information Services for 2 years
2 PAC stations with Firefox

Also use free or open source IPcop (firewall), Untangle (Previously zoneCD) for
wireless access , freeNAS (File server), Immunnet antivirus (Patron PC's),
  TightVNC, Spybot, LibreOffice, etc.

And of course, the *COOL consortium* use the open source *Evergreen *for the *ILS*
