Here is some free scanner software. http://www.sane-project.org/
I haven't tried to use it to set up a scanner kiosk, but I do sane to scan in documents on my personal computers. Its pretty easy to use.

Hello OplinTech,

I'm looking for this solution today to get installed and running on a new PC. I'm looking for free software that is easy to scan documents using a scanner we already have.  I need it to be able to save as Jpeg and PDF. Options for sending it to an email would be awesome too.
