[OPLINTECH] Public Internet computer session length?

Yes, but allowing one hour at a time doesn’t mean they will use it for an hour. Then do we not count those sessions? Ours are set to an hour except two computers so we go by sessions, as in, per logon\logoffs. Also, they are automatically recorded which is convenient.

Interested in this.
We have 21 computers set for a one-hour default with 15 minute extensions for up to 1200 minutes per day. As long as there is always an available computer, a patron could use a computer from 10:00am until we close at 8:00pm. We have had some do so with very few breaks for food.
Only one computer is set for 15 minutes only. For some reason, folks love to use it, even if plenty of other computers are open.

Ed,
I second that. How can we get the ball rolling on this?

Here's something to be considered: standardizing what "a session" means. In other words, the state report and LJ should list hours of public computer use with one hour as the measure. That would allow consistency of measure for all locations so there isn't an opportunity of inflating numerical values by limiting sessions to 15 minutes but allowing unlimited sessions.
For your consideration.

Hi,
We have the computers set to one hour sessions as the default. These sessions will continue indefinitely if no one is waiting.
Once there is a queue, patrons that have been using the computers for over an hour are given ten minutes to finish their session and are then logged off.
We also have some fifteen minute express computers.

We let them have 1 hr sessions which they can extend for up to a total of three hours. We have two express machines for 20 min use.

When someone signs onto one of your public internet computers, how long is the session?
Most of ours are two hours, and we have four "express" computers where you get 20 minutes.
Our CASSIE software will log you off and reboot when your session is up; you can log on again unless someone is in the CASSIE queue.
You can have up to 240 minutes per day (or more if the staff choose to extend your time).
I was looking at the LJ library ratings and wondering about "public internet computer use." I think that's the number of sessions; it seems like that would depend a lot on how long the sessions are.
