We have an Epson scanner setup on one public computer to use for
scanning at our main library. It is similar to this one It has been
working well for several years.

It has a fast document feeder on it as well as a flatbed scanner. Its
connected to one computer via a USB cable. There usually isn't a long
wait to use it. We installed the scanner software on the computer. I set
it up to store the scans on the desktop to make them easy to find.
Patrons can then save them to a USB storage device or e-mail them using
their web based e-mail account.
At our branch library we have a basic consumer grade flatbed scanner
that will not work with windows any longer. This USB scanner works fine
with an Ubuntu Linux Computer. Since our branch isn't as heavily used
this economical setup has been working out well.
