[OPLINTECH] Question regarding long Windows 10 initial logins

Jim, two things come to mind:

1) when I have slow logins with roaming user profiles in our typical
configuration, it's because the staff member has placed large files
(sometimes gigs) on their desktop, which roams and takes time to copy from
the server to the workstation over the wire. I mostly only redirect the
users' Documents leaving most of the rest of the profile to roam.
2) perhaps couple that with a GPO with a policy set to delete cached user
profiles (perhaps at reboot?) might help to explain your symptoms. It has
been years since I last looked at any group policies related to profile
caching, but there might be a relevant policy set somewhere.

Might be an interesting data point to create a virgin user profile in the
children ou to see if the problem is replicated with a clean profile.

You also mentioned that only these three computers at reference desks
exhibit the problem, but other off floor staff computers don't. Presumably
they're also in the same children's OU? If so, do you have any additional
GPOs that apply to the reference desk computers or anything else notably
unique to them (aside from maybe receipt printers)? Do you do any other
unique configuration on the reference desk computers but not off floor
computers?

Hope some of these comments send you off on a useful tangent,
Chad
