We've taken a similar but lower effort approach, which is to add surge protectors that include USB ports at a variety of strategic locations and started selling USB cables at cost.

Best of luck.

In lieu of a "charging station", one of my libraries has replaced numerous electric outlets in easy access public areas with outlets that have built-in USB charging ports. In one area, there's a kind of laptop bar (essentially just a fairly long and relatively skinny counter with a row of bar stools that people frequently sit at with their laptops.) There are several outlets along the countertop where people often plug in their laptops and also charge their phones. It's a cheap, space saving, and unobtrusive solution if you already have electric outlets in convenient locations next to furniture, tables, etc.

There are a variety of styles and any electrician or local maintenance crew can easily provide and/or install them.

A few years ago, we purchased several charging stations for our branches. However, the company we worked with is no longer selling them (see screenshot below).

We’re curious to know what solutions you’re using in your branches to provide mobile device charging for customers. If you have any recommendations for suppliers, links, or contact information—or if you’d like to share how you’ve been meeting customer charging
needs—your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !
