this message! *
Hello all,
Many Webkit sites are using an older way to upload and embed images in
content (in the CKEditor body field specifically). You'll know your site
uses this older method because, in newer sites, using the "Embed media"
button is not only for audio and video, but also includes images.
It has always been the goal to migrate all Webkits to the more modern
system, which not only consolidates the functionality for embedding media
into one button, but allows you to have the same kinds of options for
images as you already do for embedding remote videos or audio files.
*Here's a quick rundown of some of the changes:*
- Images can now have small captions underneath;
- Alt text can be changed for images that have already been uploaded
into your site's media library;
- Easier spacing before and after images, in addition to easier
alignment and word-wrapping;
- Images will no longer be able to be sorted into sub-directories, but
finding images will still be simpler due to the abilities to filter by name
and date created, as well as to search by name. Images will also be
significantly larger in the media library display, making it easier to pick
the one you want;
- More than one image can be embedded at a time;
- Resizing of images directly in the library will no longer be available
(Most libraries seem to prefer to correctly size images pre-upload, which
is a better practice anyway.);
- The media library can now be displayed as either a table or grid on
demand;
- PDFs will also be able to be included as inline links (not embedded
documents), in addition to the ability to attach them to a piece of content
that already exists.
This migration will be occurring over the next several months. *Your
library will be notified when it is completed for its site. *
