The St. Clairsville Public Library has a full-time opening for an Assistant
Director. The Assistant Director provides support in all departments and
oversees projects that support the library's mission. This position may be a
good match for anyone who is a library professional looking to grow or is
starting out in a career as a professional librarian.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Provide experienced oversight and support for programs and services in all
departments. Work with supervisors to plan and lead library programs as
needed. With little supervision complete projects related to improving
library services, facilities, and resources. Communicate with individuals
and groups to represent and enthusiastically promote the library. Work with
the Director to implement the library's mission, goals, and strategic
objectives. Be a back-up for organizational responsibilities in the absence
of the Director. Provide a positive and friendly environment for staff and
library customers of all ages.

 

Qualifications:

Higher education courses in library science or equivalent training
experiences. Proven aptitude in professional library science, preferably in
a public library setting. Demonstrated supervisory skills. Ability to assess
community interests and needs to develop library programs and services
accordingly. Aptitude with computers and technology.  Excellent customer
service and interpersonal skills. Group presentation skills and sound
professional judgment.  

 

Wages and Benefits:

$35,000 - $39,000/year based on qualifications. State employee retirement
plan, health/supplemental insurance, paid leave (vacation, sick, personal),
paid holidays & flexible scheduling

 

The St. Clairsville Public Library serves 16,500 and is right off I-70 in
Belmont County, Ohio. Our library has dedicated, friendly employees; has
growing, cooperative partnerships with local schools, senior agencies, and
area non-profits; receives strong community support as shown by our recent
ballot campaign, active Friends group and Library Foundation; and resides in
a well-maintained historic building across from the county courthouse in the
small city of St. Clairsville, Ohio. Particular strengths are our tech help,
local outreach, and customer service.
