Hopeful that the reference librarians among us can provide ideas. Patron describes the book as: science fiction. H.G. Wells appears as a character in the book. The premise is that the events of the War of the Worlds (alien invasion) actually happened, and HG Wells (and the other characters) use time travel to stop the events from happening. The setting is the same time period as the War of the Worlds (early 20th century). The patron thought that H.G. Wells was the main character, but that perhaps Orson Welles was also in the story, or maybe that Welles was the "Wells" in the book, instead of H.G. The patron recalls reading the book when they were a middle school student (2013 or 2014), and that the book was in a teacher's collection, although the content and reading level were higher than middle school level. He asked about the title online, but did not receive any helpful results. The book was definitely published before 2018. I searched for the title using Talpa Search and requested both "the Martian War" and "the Map of the Sky" for the patron. He did not recognize either cover, so I am looking for additional ideas. If you search our catalog using H.G. Wells as subject and fiction - a handful of titles come up. I see that "Map of the sky" is listed, but other titles by the author as well.
