Hi everyone,

The SEO Advisory met today for a special committee meeting to discuss the current state of the delivery service and the best steps to reduce the amount of lost/damaged materials during the transition. Based on our experience during the July 2021 delivery service transition, we have decided to take action now in an attempt to minimize the reoccurrence of past experiences. Therefore, we plan to limit new consortium level holds on February 28, 2022. Listed below is a timeline to share with staff so they are aware of these critical dates.

Dates to remember:


  *   February 24, 2022 - SEO will add a message alerting patrons of the upcoming change on all Enterprise Profiles and Mobile App

     *   "Ohio libraries are transitioning to a new dedicated delivery partner, and delays on requested items will be expected."   *   February 28, 2022 - Limit new holds to local hold group (local library system) - new patron requests will only be filled if the local hold group owns the item
  *   April 4, 2022 - Stat will stop accepting materials from libraries, drop off only. Drivers will not pick up outgoing materials until the courier change is complete on April 18
  *   April 15, 2022 - STAT's last day of service
  *   April 18, 2022 - Priority Dispatch first day of service
  *   April 25, 2022 - SEO restart of system-wide holds
  *   April 29, 2022 - Revisit removing the message from All Enterprise Profiles and Mobile App

The changes outlined above will allow all SEO members to proactively 1) minimize the number of items that must be transferred from STAT to Priority, 2) reduce the potential for lost and/or damaged items during the transition, and 3) avoid Priority beginning service with a backlog of items to deliver.

We realize that the decision to limit consortium level holds will be challenging for your staff and patrons. We appreciate your patience and continued support through this most challenging time endured by all as we work to move through this transition period and bring service back up as quickly as possible with Priority Dispatch.

In collaboration to help you communicate these changes to your library staff and patrons, the State Library of Ohio and OhioLINK will be releasing templated communications that you may adapt and use as needed at your library. In addition, they will provide a one-page informational document that your staff can refer to as they answer questions from patrons. Access to these documents will be announced to various listservs later this week.
