Hi Melyssa and all,

We do have a list of items on hold that were at the Lakeview Branch waiting for pickup. Their home libraries will be notified. We also have items that were checked out. Most of those should be fine but we are forgiving  if a patron's home was destroyed. There might be a delay in getting items back intransit and will be sent from LOG.
Then there's the rest of the LOL collection, which will be discarded as nothing was salvageable.

The building space was provided by the village. Rebuilding or finding another location won't be known for some time. We don't have space here for storage, but hopefully will be able to accept donations at some point. Thanks for your offer!

Is there a way to know what items were possibly lost in the tornado?

Also, are they rebuilding? Should we hold aside donated books to possibly build up their collection once it's rebuilt?

Hello everyone -



The SEO Team wanted to make everyone aware of some locations that are currently closed and not able to fill holds:

  *   Lakeview Library of Logan County (LOL): This location was severely damaged due to a tornado last week and is closed. The SEO team has placed a no holds rules on their items.
  *   Garnet A Wilson Library of Pike County: There was a fire next to the Garnet A Wilson Library yesterday. The library is currently without power and branches without internet. They are no able to fill holds at this time. The team is hoping that branches can resume normal operations starting next week. However, the main library (GWM) did suffer some damage and will not be able to fill holds until further notice. They are hopeful to resume statewide delivery next week.



As a reminder, the Brumback Library joined the SEO Consortium on February 29, 2024. When new libraries join the consortium, their items are not holdable as they transition into the consortium. If there are items solely owned by Brumback and their branches that your patrons would like, please request them through Interlibrary Loan until the collection is open.
