Why is this important?

When past versions of Windows (XP, 7, 8) reached end of life, hackers quickly began exploiting them worldwide.
Any computer running an unsupported operating system connected to the internet should be considered at risk or compromised-even if antivirus software is installed.

Additionally, SirsiDynix does not support end-of-life operating systems. If you encounter issues running WorkFlows software on Windows 10 after October 2025 , SEO may not be able to help

Options for Moving Forward

  1. Purchase New Computers with Windows 11
     * Ensures full compatibility and security.
  2. Extended Security Updates (ESU)
     * Microsoft will offer paid extended security updates (about $30 per device per year).
     * Learn more: Microsoft ESU Program<https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/extended-security-updates>
  3. Upgrade Existing Systems
     * Your IT team may be able to upgrade eligible systems to Windows 11 through a registry modification, provided the hardware is not older than 6-7 years.

________________________________

Recommended Computer Replacement Cycle with the latest Operating System

  * Every 5 years (Ideal): Ensures hardware stays current and avoids OS end-of-life issues.
  * Every 7 years (Acceptable): Still avoids unsupported operating systems, may experience slower performance on older hardware.
