Oral History Project Coordinator

Grant-Funded Temporary Assignment

 

The United Church of Christ Archives is seeking applications for a
grant-funded position to implement an oral history project. The Project
Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the oral history project,
including identifying, contacting, and researching interviewees;
creating appropriate release forms; composing interview questions;
identify, screen and train volunteer interviewers; digitally recording
the oral histories; supervising transcription; cataloging the
collection; and writing progress and financial reports. The position
reports to the United Church of Christ Archivist & Records Manager.

 

The ideal candidate must have a familiarity with oral history standards
and practices, and be an excellent communicator, both oral and written.
The candidate must be comfortable working with digital recording
equipment and computers. The candidate must be able to lift and shelve
boxes up to 40 lbs. 

 

Candidates must be able to travel to Hartford, CT, 21-27 June 2007, to
capture the oral histories.

 

Knowledge of the United Church of Christ and its history is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in history, communications, or related field is
preferred. 

 

Stipend of $5,000. Travel, lodging, and meals provided for trip to
Hartford.

Preferred starting date is early February, and runs through November.
The United Church of Christ Archives is located in Cleveland, OH.
