[SOA] Draft of the SOA Strategic Plan for review and comment

Hello all.
I agree with Glenn. We should be allied with groups with records or work that interests Ohio and could benefit us. It would be nice to partner with the regional or topical groups (MAC or NAGARA come to mind) for the purpose of continuing education, for example.

I also agree with Jane's earlier point that we need to define Goal I's endowment. What will it's use be? In any economic times people are less likely to contribute if they are unsure of the purpose of something, so I would assume that right now people would be more discerning. Are we going to offer scholarships, programs with this money or what? We should at least know the purpose ourselves.

Greetings.

I'd like to suggest that Goal 4, Obj A, be slightly revised to say something along the lines of, "Collaborate with allied groups at the local, regional, and national level." We here at the National Archives in Chicago hold several thousand cubic feet of records created by federal agencies in Ohio from 1800 to the recent past.

Thanks!

I've attached the draft of the SOA Strategic Plan that was distributed and discussed at the business meeting held at the Spring Conference.

Council will be reviewing and finalizing this plan in the upcoming months. Please take a few moments to review the draft and let us know your thoughts by posting to the SOA listserv, or contacting a Council member directly.

Thank you
