·         Learn how to care for and handle old books, photographs and film

·         Bring your letters, postcards and family heirlooms for
preservation tips and demonstrations

·         Learn how to research your family history

·         Tips, tricks, resources and more



Archivists and librarians from the Center for the History of
Psychology<http://www.uakron.edu/chp>will provide tips for handling
photographs, letters, postcards, family
heirlooms, books, diaries, home movies and other personal treasures.
Hands-on preservation opportunities will also be available.



Librarians from the Special Collections Division of the Akron-Summit County
Public Library <http://sc.akronlibrary.org/> will demonstrate genealogy
databases that are accessible through the library and provide information
about the library’s resources and services available to family history
researchers.



Staff from The University of Akron Archival
Services<http://www.uakron.edu/libraries/archives/>,
a division of University Libraries, will talk about their resources, which
focus on the history of the university and the region with a special
collecting focus on the history of the rubber industry, lighter-than-air
flight, Ohio canals, and the B-26 Marauder and 9th Air Force.  Archival
Services holds genealogical resources, including local government records.
