Subject: [OPC List] Alliance for Response event - October 24, Cleveland

Northeast Ohio Alliance for Response presents:
"Hurricanes, Earthquakes, and Active Shooter Situations - Arts and Cultural Community Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Recovery"

This year we are fortunate to have Tom Clareson, Senior Consultant for Digital & Preservation Services at LYRASIS and Project Director for Performing Arts Readiness, presenting a program on planning for risks and disasters affecting institutional collections.

We see wildfires, earthquakes, riots, and active shooter situations on the news, and cannot ignore the possibility of a disastrous event happening at our own organization. At the same time across the country, experts are saying that the speed with which libraries, museums, archives and the arts are recovering from hurricanes Harvey and Irma is much faster than with previous regional disasters, and collaboration is the key!

Tom will talk about a variety of new initiatives for disaster preparedness and recovery which focus on working across the Arts and Cultural Heritage communities. The presentation will include information on a variety of grants available for disaster planning, collections assessment, and recovery. The session also includes facilitated discussion on developing disaster plans and networks.
