New ODJFS Job Matching Computer System Operational

A new computer system is now available to match Ohio employers and job
seekers through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).
This new system is called SCOTI which stands for Sharing Career
Opportunities and Training Information.

"This web-based system will allow our customers, both job seekers and
employers, to better help themselves," ODJFS Director Tom Hayes said.
"With more customers serving themselves through this new system, state
and local employment staff will be able to focus energy on those
customers who need personal help." 

Job seekers may access SCOTI to view job openings, register for job
matching assistance and access a variety of career resources. Employers
will be able to list job openings, view information about job seekers
and other business related resources. Both employers and job seekers
will be able to access labor market information such as average wages by
occupation and location.

Last year Ohio decided to base its new job matching and reporting system
on public domain technology used by the state of Washington. Since May
SCOTI, has been used by ODJFS employees and local One Stop workers to
track and report Workforce Investment Act activities to the federal
government. Starting this week the system will be used by state and
local staff to match job applicants with available openings. The system
will now also enable Ohio to accurately report its labor exchange
performance to the federal government.

Data about job seekers, employers and job orders from the Ohio Job Net
job matching computer system was converted to SCOTI over the weekend.
Information about existing WIA cases was converted to SCOTI earlier this
year while information about new WIA participants has been entered into
and tracked by SCOTI since May.
