    Don't miss this opportunity to hear YA expert Patrick Jones speak 
about Best Practices, new directions, programming and collection 
development.  Patrick Jones was the Youth Services Coordinator for the 
Houston Public Library in Houston, Texas when it planned, developed, and 
implemented the award-winning Power Card Challenge program to register 
every child for a library card, and the ASPIRE after-school program for 
at-risk middle school kids which was named as one of the top five 
programs in the nation serving young adults by the Young Adult Library 
Services Association. He currently runs a firm dedicated to consulting, 
training, and coaching for providing powerful youth services.
    Patrick is the author of New Directions in Library Service to Young 
Adults (ALA Editions, 2002), which provides a broad philosophical 
framework for serving teens in school and public libraries. His 
publications also include:
*Running a Library Card Campaign Connecting Young Adults and Libraries: 
A How To Do It Manual
*Do It Right: Customer Service for Young Adults in School and Public 
Libraries (co-written with school librarian Joel Shoemaker)
*Connecting Young Adults and Libraries: A How To Do It Manual
    In addition, he has written over 40 articles for such library 
professional publications as the Horn Book, School Library Journal, 
Voice of Youth Advocates, and the Journal of Popular Culture in 
Libraries as well as essays for reference books such as the St. James 
Encyclopedia of Popular Culture.
