Ohio Memory Featured Scrapbooks: World War II and Sports

World War II Scrapbook
In honor of the opening of the National World War II Memorial, Ohio =
Memory has created a scrapbook of photographs, letters and artifacts =
from the World War II era. Items include a photograph of James Miller =
standing near the Victory Garden he grew, a Ration Book, and a =
photograph of Piqua native Dominic Gentile posing with his P-51 Mustang =
Shangrila. The National World War II Memorial was the vision of Ohioan =
Roger Durbin, a veteran who first raised the issue of the lack of a =
memorial for the Second World War to U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur in =
1986. More information about the memorial, which will be dedicated on =
May 29, is available at: http://www.wwiimemorial.com/=20

Sports Scrapbook
A second feature celebrates Ohio's fascination with sports. The =
scrapbook includes items relating to football, baseball, basketball, =
golf and other sports. Items of note include photographs of President =
Warren G. Harding playing horseshoes and racecar driver Sarah Fisher, as =
well as a Cleveland Indians Pennant from 1948, the last year the Indians =
won the World Series.=20
