The Ohio Historical Society, along with the help of Professor Thomas
Schmidlin of Kent State University, is putting together an online
exhibit about Ohio's worst weather disasters. The exhibit will be
published on www.ohiokids.org. The text will be condensed from Professor
Schmidlin's book, Thunder in the Heartland. The book is well documented
and interesting reading, but unfortunately, not very well illustrated.
If you could look at the list of weather events below and let Harry
Searles (e-mail: hsearles@ohiohistory.org) know if you or any local
historians in your area might have photos, maps, newspaper headlines,
brief personal accounts, or anything else that OHS might be able to use
to make the online exhibit more graphically pleasing.

The list includes the events and the dates they occurred. It also
includes the area in which each event occurred, although the areas
listed are not necessarily exclusive. For example, the southern Ohio
flood of 1907 lists Cincinnati, Circleville, Athens, but the flood
certainly effected other areas in Southern Ohio. It is possible that
local libraries or historians in those areas might have graphic material
that would be quite useful.

Thanks for your help.
