Trisha Davis is Associate Professor Head of the Serials & Electronic
Resources Dept. at The Ohio State University Libraries. She has
presented workshops on this topic for ACRL sponsored events and around
the U.S.

Description:
This intermediate workshop is intended to help library managers make
better acquisition and licensing arrangements. It will include sections
on techniques for editing license agreements, suggestions for working
with legal counsel, and strategies for effective negotiations. Sample
license agreements will be used as examples. Workshop participants will
have an opportunity to read and critique contracts and test their
knowledge through role-playing experience. A review of "General
Guidelines for Creation, Content and Handling of License Agreements " ,
the latest American Library Association/Association for Library
Collections and Technical Services Publisher/Vendor Library Relations
Committee document, also will be provided.
Save $50 by registering for both parts of this workshop. (Part one is
on August 5th)
Who Should Attend: For library managers and librarians who deal with
acquisitions and electronic reference resources.
Prerequisite: It is recommended that attendees take Licensing Electronic
Resources, Part one or a similar course first.
