To all Ohio Children's Librarians,
This is to advise you that there have been some safety problems with a
yo-yo similar to the "Squishy Mace Yo-Yo" sold by Highsmith on page 4 of
this year's "Dragons, Dreams & Daring Deeds" order form. Even though
the safety problems were in regard to a larger, similar yo-yo, Upstart
has discontinued sales of the item that was made available to CSLP.
If you purchased the "Squishy Mace Yo-Yo" and are concerned about its
safety, you can do one of two things:
1. Cut off the string and use the yo-yo's as balls
or
2. Call Upstart to return them.
The safety problems with the larger, similar yo-yo had to do with the
string getting twisted around the necks of children and choking them.
Please forward this message to your libraries so they are aware of this
safety concern.
