      Time

1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

      Location

      Speaker(s)

Michael Providenti

      Description

It seems everyone's talking about Web standards and accessibility. But
what's in it for you and your organization? And where does one start?

We'll start with the "whys" - the legal/ethical framework including
Section 504, 508, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Then we'll
move quickly into the "hows" - XHTML and CSS.

In this workshop we'll cover:

- How to satisfy section 508 and the WCAG to promote maximum accessibility.

- What online accessibility testers can and cannot do for you.

- How to write structural semantic XHTML.

- What to consider so you can build a better web template.

- Making the most of CSS with techniques including style switching and
image replacement.
