[OPLINLIST] Scratched DVD's

In general, from what I have read, DVDs scratch about as easily as CDs --
but because of the greater information density of the medium, a scratched
DVD is MUCH more likely to have problems playing than a scratched CD.

In other words, perhaps your CDs get just as scratched, but the scratching
isn't noticed as much, because the CDs remain playable, whereas the DVDs
do not; DVDs are much less forgiving of damage..

We have been having a problem with DVD's coming back VERY scratched up.
Other staff members have suggested that the patrons are abusing them, but
I think there is something else going on. Our music CD's do not get
scratched up like our DVD's. I tend to wonder if it has something to do
with the DVD player. Does anyone else have this problem and/or do you
know what causes it? Our method of repair doesn't seem to work well
either (Skip Doctor CD & DVD Repair Device.) TIA for any info. you
can provide.
