[OPLINLIST] Next Generation of Statewide Resource Sharing Videoconferences

On December 19 the State Library of Ohio will hold the second in a
series of videoconferences on the Next Generation of Statewide Resource
Sharing (SWRS) in Ohio. Monthly videoconferences are scheduled as part
of the process of developing a strategic plan for the next phase in
statewide resource sharing.  Register at:

The State Library has contracted with Rob McGee to assist in the
development of the plan. Rob has met with three regional focus groups,
collected documents and information, and reviewed the discussion notes
from the statewide videoconference held on November 14 at seven sites
throughout the state. He has developed a report on Needs Assessment of
SWRS in Ohio. An executive summary of the report will be available on
our website prior to the December 19 videoconference.  Next, Rob will
issue a Request for Information (RFI) to vendors of resource sharing
solutions of interest, in coordination with the State Library of Ohio. A
Cost Analysis of RFI Responses will be produced, and then a report,
Plans and Recommendations for Enhanced Statewide Resource Sharing, will
be presented to the library community.

 

The library community is invited to participate in the December 19
videoconference. Eight sites have agreed to host the videoconference
including: Bucyrus Public Library in Bucyrus, Kent State in Kent,
NEO-RLS in Warren, NORWELD in Bowling Green, SEO in Caldwell, SERLS in
Wellston, Southern State Community College in Hillsboro, the State
Library of Ohio in Columbus and SWON Libraries in Cincinnati.

 

The State Library of Ohio will lead the videoconference with the
following discussion topics:

*         State of the States: A summary report of  SWRS in other states


*         Executive Summary of the Needs Assessment of SWRS in Ohio
Report by Rob McGee

*         The RFI 

*         Next Steps

A time for comments and questions will be included in between each
discussion topic.
