SERLS ceserls at oplin.org
Fri Dec 28 09:54:15 EST 2007

Attention all youth services and school librarians.

Ring in the New Year right- come celebrate the best picture books of the
year!

Mock Caldecott 2008 Election led by Linda Tiffany, Youth Services Librarian,
Columbus Metropolitan Library.

The goal of this workshop is to help participants gain an understanding of
the Caldecott Award Process, increase their skills in evaluating books, and
discover some of the outstanding titles of 2007. At the end of the session,
participants will apply these skills by reading and evaluating the
illustrations of some of the most distinguished picture books published in
2007, and will hold an election to decide the SERLS' winners! Results will
be posted on the SERLS website blog,

Presenter Linda Tiffany has been a youth services librarian with the
Columbus Metropolitan Library for over eighteen years. Before she began
working at the Main Library's Center for Discovery in 2000, she worked in
small and medium sized branch locations within the Columbus Metropolitan
Library system. Her collection development focus for the past eighteen years
has been on picture books, and she has had plenty of experience in leading
mock Caldecott elections for librarians- and for children- during her tenure
at the Main Library. 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. Light morning and afternoon
refreshments provided, lunch is on your own.

Cost: $60, or FREE for libraries that are enhanced members of SERLS!

This workshop is being offered in two locations for your convenience:

January 2: SERLS Office, Wellston

January 3: SEO Library Center, Caldwell
