[OPLINLIST] Find a juvenile series

Hello Library Friends, I have a patron looking for a series of juvenile adventure/mystery books he read when he was in elementary school in the mid 70's. He said the story centered around teenage boys with a souped up car. There were about a dozen books in the series. He cannot recall the name of the series, but one of the characters may be named "Kip". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks , Peg Laboucane
