[OPLINLIST] Kid-proof headphones?!...

We have used Sony MDR-W24V headsets for several reasons: (1) The
vertical-in-the-ear design is easy to clean hard plastic on all areas. (2)
The design is open - users aren't acoustically "isolated" as with an
"earmuff style" and don't shout or sing out loud because they don't hear
themselves. (3) There is an in-cord volume control -- some users never quite
catch on about the speaker icon in the task tray.

The only caveat we have found with this model is availability. Multiple
vendors often are "out" and awaiting restock. These will break, but not as
often as some of the cheaper units we have tried. It is also likely that in
the future we may encourage patrons to bring their own headsets.

We are desperate to locate headphones for kids (years 2-14) that can
hold up to the usual kid abuse. Do any of you have a testimonial for a
brand(s) and model(s) that have weathered well at your library?

Feel free to respond directly to me or on the list.

Thank you!
Wendy
