NYT Bestselling author to speak at festival

New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer will give the keynote presentation for A Spring Literary Arts Festival: Entertaining Dreams in McArthur, Ohio on Saturday, April 19.

Meltzer is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Fate, as well as the bestsellers The Tenth Justice, Dead Even, The First Counsel, The Millionaires and The Zero Game. He was also one of the co-creators of the TV show, Jack and Bobby -and is the number one selling author of the critically acclaimed comic books Identity Crisis, Green Arrow: The Archer's Quest and Justice League of America. He is the first author to ever reach the #1 spot on both the New York Times and the Diamond comic book bestseller lists simultaneously.

Meltzer notes that the key to his writing is research. "You can invent all the stuff you want," he has stated, "but if it doesn't smell real, readers will know in a nanosecond (and rip your head off). To me, fiction is at its best when it has one foot in reality."

Raised in Brooklyn and Miami, Meltzer is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Columbia Law School. His books have spent over nine months on the bestseller lists, and have been translated into over 25 languages, from Hebrew to Bulgarian. He has also written speeches for President Clinton's national service program.

The author has played himself as an extra in Woody Allen's Celebrity and earned credit from Columbia Law School for writing his first book, which became The Tenth Justice. Prior to his accomplishments, he received 24 rejection letters for his true first novel, which still sits on his shelf, published by Kinko's. Meltzer currently lives in Florida with his wife, who is also an attorney.

Brad Meltzer will give the keynote presentation at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 at the Vinton County Middle School.
