HELLO EVERYONE!

I am sending you a message regarding potential funding for literary arts
programs for children in Public Schools. Perhaps you might wish to share
this information with your local schools.

Culturatti Kids, a national 503(c) designated organization, was formed
to offer children and schools in need comprehensive literary arts
programs. This group also works with school librarians to make sure
their libraries are fully stocked and operational. They raise funds
through retail fundraisers, grants, individual and corporate donations
and through the Gift-In-Kind programs. The group currently serves all
counties in Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky.

On the Culturatti Kids website - http://www.culturattikids.org/ they
outline the specific funding support available for local schools on the
following wishlist:
http://www.culturattikids.org/files/QuickSiteImages/Wishlist.doc A form
is also included here to submit a funding request. The deadline for
requests for funding is March 1st. Contact Erika at 317-654-0310 or
1-888-849-6070 or Erika at culturattikids.org

One of the items on the wish list is "Writing and Reading Clubs". The
State Library of Ohio has a new program called Choose to Read Ohio -
http://oh.webjunction.org/ohctrointro which would fit very well with
this grant. There are three categories - Children's, Young Adult, and
Adult. There are four current titles and one classic in each category.
Currently one author's toolkit is posted, Andrea Cheng -
http://oh.webjunction.org/ohctrosteps Hopefully, in the next few months
more toolkits will be added to the website. Libraries and schools will
be able to download these kits free of charge.

The Choose to Read Ohio program will be unveiled officially during
National Library Week - April 12-18, 2009, and also at the Ohioana Book
Festival on May 9th, 2009. Libraries and Schools will have the rest of
this year as well as through 2010 to offer a six week book discussion
program based on any of the books listed.

Sincerely,

Ruth A. Metcalf
