POSITION OPENING

CHILDREN'S/YOUNG ADULT LIBRARIAN

 

The Newcomerstown Public Library is seeking a creative individual with a
background in education and library service to manage our Children's and
Young Adult Department.   

Bachelor's Degree in Education or equivalent experience in early
childhood learning and literacy preferred.   Experience working with
children pre-school through grade 12 required.   Excellent computer
skills are critical. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
are equally important.

 

Responsibilities include program for all age groups, Ohio Ready to Read,
Summer Reading Programs, Book Hound Club, (Therapy Dog International
Program for reluctant readers), book selection, policy recommendations,
and developing long range goals for serving area youth.
Children's/Young Adult Librarian reports to Director and works closely
with all staff members.

 

Flexible work schedule must include evening and Saturday hours when
children are using the library.  

 

Paid Health Insurance.   Paid Sick leave and 2 weeks paid vacation for
full time staff (40 hours).   Library participates in Ohio Public
Employees Retirement System.

 

Salary negotiable depending on qualifications.

 

Library performs background checks on candidates.
