LSTA Special Grant program available -- Library Entrepreneurship

The State Library is pleased to announce the availability of a new grant
program entitled Library Entrepreneurship. Recognizing that librarians
may have a concept which they would like to try but do not have adequate
funds, these grants will allow them to experiment with and evaluate new
and innovative service models.  

 

In order to be funded under this category, a library entrepreneurship
project should:  

1.	Meet the library users' need(s) in a fresh way. 
2.	Have the breadth to become a platform for related services. 
3.	Increase the library's value to its community. 
4.	Offer an advantage over current services or processes. 

 

One requirement of the grant is that applicants must be willing to share
the results of the project statewide and work with designated State
Library staff to determine if and how replication of the program, if
applicable, might be achieved.

 

All types of libraries are eligible to apply.  A maximum of $250.000 in
federal funds may be requested and a 25% cash match of the total project
amount is required.  Proposals are due electronically to Missy Lodge, 
mlodge at sloma.state.oh.us by midnight, June 15, 2010.  

 

Recommended proposals will be taken to the September State Library Board
and will begin October 1, 2010.
