Position: Head of Adult Services
Library: Wood County District Public Library
City: Bowling Green, Ohio
Salary: $36,000 -- $41,000, DOE

The Wood County District Public Library (WCDPL) seeks an innovative and 
dynamic librarian to lead our Adult Services Department. As its mission, 
WCDPL provides access to literature and information, creative ideas and 
experiences to enrich our community.

Located in northwest Ohio, WCDPL serves a district population of 60,000 
through a main library in Bowling Green, a branch library in Walbridge, 
a new CNG-powered Bookmobile, and extensive outreach programming.WCDPL 
has a 2011 operating budget of $2.0 million, an annual circulation of 
about 550,000 items, 25,000 cardholders, and 22 FTEs.

The Head of Adult Services is directly responsible for leading the 
library's reference and information services, reader's advisory and 
adult programming services, system-wide development of all collections 
for adults, local history and genealogy services, and public technology 
access & training functions.Position responsibilities include, but are 
not limited to: providing direct service to patrons of all ages, 
managing staff in the department; developing programs; selecting 
materials; technology training; managing budgets; goal-setting; and 
compiling statistics and reports.

The successful candidate will:

  * Work closely with the Library Director in the development and
    implementation of library services, policies, and long-range
    planning efforts.
  * Work closely with other department heads to ensure efficient and
    effective delivery of library services.
  * Be an energetic, service-oriented professional possessing a vision
    for the future, strong leadership and communication skills, and
    experience in meeting the challenges of a modern public library.
  * Possess the ability to be flexible in trying new approaches to
    customer service and in working with a dedicated staff committed to
    providing excellent service.
  * Be an active member of library and professional groups relevant to
    the position, as well as being active in the community as a library
    representative.
  * Demonstrate knowledge of current technology and media, including
    e-readers and eBooks, and digitization projects.

  The position requires an MLS from an ALA accredited institution and 
2-5 years of progressive professional experience.Two years of 
supervisory experience is a plus.

Salary $36,000 to $41,000 per year, dependent upon qualifications and 
experience.
