Forward to a Friend Oxford University Press	Introducing the Oxford Index...

Dear Stephen Hedges ,

We are delighted to announce the release of Oxford Index , a free search and discovery tool from Oxford University Press, now available to all OUP customers and their users as a public beta. The Index is designed to help users begin their research journey by providing a single, convenient search portal for trusted scholarship from Oxford and our partners, and then directing them to the most relevant related materials – from journal articles to scholarly monographs.

This inaugural release includes a cross-searchable set of nearly 250,000 free 'index cards', each representing a single OUP article, chapter, journal or book. Index cards display key information (including abstracts and keywords) about a work, thereby helping users judge its relevance to their research before following links into the full-text.

The Oxford Index currently includes metadata for:

    • All content (more than 80,000 chapters from 7,200 titles) from University Press Scholarship Online (including Oxford Scholarship Online ), a collection of academic monographs from leading university presses worldwide
    • All content (over 3,400 chapters from 100+ titles) from Oxford Handbooks Online
    • A collection of more than 150,000 recent articles from 235 Oxford Journals

Over the coming months, we will continue to add hundreds of thousands of new items of content and new functionality , including content from other acclaimed OUP resources and indication of and filtering by full-text access rights, as the Oxford Index evolves in direct response to user and librarian feedback. We welcome your thoughts and suggestions during the beta period via a brief survey: www.surveymonkey.com/s/TJDJK77 ; or, please contact us with your comments and questions at oxfordindex at oup.com .

Over the course of beta development we will provide regular updates on new content and functionality, all leading up to the main launch of the Oxford Index in the first half of 2012, after which the service will continue to grow regularly alongside our expanding online program.

We hope that you enjoy exploring the Oxford Index , and we look forward to your feedback.

Sincerely,

Oxford University Press Online Products
