Hello all:
Wanted to let you know that the Historic National Road Yard Sale (U.S. 40)
Vol. IV Cookbook is ready for orders. The Historic National Road runs right
through southern Ohio. This cookbook is edited by Patricia McDaniels who in
her own right is a colorful and delightful woman. Each cookbook features a
different state. Last volume was Maryland and author Nora Robert's and her
husband were featured prominently. (Robert's husband did most of the
illustrations). This volume will feature Illinois recipes.
What makes Vol. IV such an interesting "read", is that McDaniels has
included a chapter of recipes that we see all the time at bake sales,
church potlucks, etc. Meant as a tongue-in-cheek chapter, many young cooks
will be delighted to actually find the recipes that their mother's and
grandmothers cook from heart.
There has been a trend in many libraries of readers checking out cookbooks
just to "read" them; especially cookbooks with historical narrative, such
as this one. I am sure this book will not disappoint and am pointing you
directly to the source so you may obtain a copy for you or your library.
Just don't be surprised if your cookbooks arrive wrapped in aluminum foil.

Happy Reading!
Susan
