[OPLINLIST] Affordable Care Act (Help!)

Good morning Mary Kay,

I have some additional information to answer your questions:

* Navigator agencies will be trained by the federal government to provide in-person assistance to individuals with the Health Insurance Marketplace. A list of the agencies receiving navigator funding is at http://goo.gl/eaze17. Navigators are currently undergoing training and certification.

* Certified Application Counselors will also assist individuals with the Health Insurance Marketplace, although they will not receive funds. Applications are still open, and Certified Application Counselors will also receive certification and testing.

* Later this month, healthcare.gov<http://healthcare.gov> will add a "Find Local Help" button that will show Navigators and Certified Application Counselors in your zip code.

* If there is a published list of Navigators and Certified Application Counselors by county, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will provide the State Library with this and we will share it.

* The State Library is working with the Ohio Association of Foodbanks on setting up a way for libraries to express interest in partnering to host events for Navigators. When we have further details, we will share them.

* The State Library has a website with important information at http://library.ohio.gov/aca and it is updated frequently.

I am so sorry that you are having difficulties getting responses from the agencies you've contacted. I hope this information helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Have a great day,

Mary Kay,

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks was selected as one if the "navigator" agencies for Ohio. This organization has a presence in all 88 counties. I think your local member is the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. That might be a place to start. I will try to confirm this tomorrow when I am in the office.

Thanks,
Beverly

Hello-

I am trying (and not doing very) to contact agencies that are working with and for the Affordable Care Act. I would like to know where in my county (Summit County) we can send our patrons to get help to register for insurance. So, far, I've been directed to Healthcare.gov<http://Healthcare.gov> and CMS.gov<http://CMS.gov>. I have not been able to locate any information about where and when to send customers who need help.

I am also interested in proving meeting space for those agencies to come to my library to help people register.
But, I have been unsuccessful.

I contacted my representative (Tim Ryan) and received no reply. I contacted Sherrod Brown's office and one of his aides contacted me and told me to contact the Akron Community Resources. Attempts to contact by e-mail have gone unanswered. I will try tomorrow to call by phone to see if I get anywhere.

I am e-mailing the Oplin list to see if anyone else has been successful in compiling accurate and current information to give to patrons on or around October 1st. Or, are you just as frustrated as I am ?

Any ideas, comments and suggestions are welcome!
