The webinar agenda includes: 

    * introduction to the US Patent & Trademark Office's (USPTO) Patent & Trademark Resource Centers (PTRC) 
    * learn to identify the different types of intellectual property 
    * learn techniques for answering the most common patent-related questions 
    * how to get a patron started in searching the USPTO database and when to refer them to the nearest PTRC 
    * how to help patrons recognize invention promotion scams and scam prevention techniques 



Intended Audience: Librarians and paraprofessionals staffing a public service desk. 

About the Presenter: Monique Mason is the Division Manager of Science and Technology for Akron-Summit County Public Library, where she also serves as the Library's representative to the Patent and Trademark Resource Center Program at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is also a member of the Patent and Trademark Resource Center Association's Executive Board, representing public libraries throughout the United States.

Continuing Education Credits: For those working toward their Ohio Public Librarian or Ohio Public Library Staff re-certification, this webinar counts as (1) continuing education contact hour of credit.
