The Ohio Historical Society-Local Government Records Program (OHS-LGRP)
will be hosting several webinars in 2014.  To start the year off on the
right foot the OHS-LGRP will be hosting a classic, but updated, "Just
the Basics" on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 2 pm.  The cost of the
webinar will be $20.  The "Just the Basics" webinar will introduce
records-keepers to the records management practices in Ohio, including
the procedures for creating and filing records retention schedules and
certificates of records disposal with the State Archives.
 
Key concepts will include:
*         Pertinent Definitions and the Ohio Revised Code 
*         Local Records Commissions 
*         Inventory Preparation 
*         Determining Retention Periods 
*         Procedures (129th General Assembly's House Bill 153) 
*         Records Retention Schedules (RC-2), One-Time Disposal of
Obsolete Records (RC-1), and Certificates of Records Disposal (RC-3) 
*         Storage/Environmental Considerations 
*         Media Type Decisions
 
After registration you will be sent information on how to access the
webinar.  The instructions also include a quick and automatic test that
ensures you can access the webinar from your computer.  It only takes a
minute or two and has instructions for trouble-shooting.  The test is
required in order to access the webinar.  Please contact Elizabeth
Schultz if you do not receive login instructions within a week of
registering.

The Ohio History Store only accepts credit card payments.  You can also
