[OPLINLIST] Ohio's Most Endangered Historical Sites, also Civil War traveling exhibit

Some news of interest to libraries from the recent meeting of the Ohio Civil War 150 advisory committee:

Preservation Ohio has issued a Call for Nominations for the 2015 List of Ohio's Most Endangered Historic Sites.  This list highlights important pieces of Ohio history that face an uncertain future, and which deserve the attention of all Ohioans as remnants of the past that merit preservation.

Each year, Ohio's statewide preservation organization searches for houses, commercial buildings, governmental structures, bridges, historic roadways, landscapes, downtowns, neighborhoods and other important pieces of Ohio history that face a potentially risky future. The list serves to highlight those properties which are both historically significant and endangered - whether it be by threats of demolition, long-term disinvestment or neglect, insensitive governmental action, uncertainty or indifference.  After the Most Endangered list was published last year, several properties were saved due to advocacy efforts and increased awareness of their threatened status.

Also, 2015 is the final year of the Civil War sesquicentennial.  Ohio Civil War 150 provides a wealth of resources to support this commemoration, including a traveling exhibit which is currently booked only through May 2015.

"Ohio & the Civil War: 150 Years Later" is a special panel traveling exhibit developed especially for small institutions that typically do not have access to traveling exhibits because of space and cost limitations.  The traveling exhibit explores Ohio's participation in the war and focuses especially on individuals' choices that impacted local communities and the course of the war.  The cost of hosting the exhibit, typically for 4-6 weeks, is $500 to offset exhibit rental and shipping costs.  A financial hardship discount of $250 is available.

You will see dates listed only through 2012, but go ahead and use that form for your request for June 2015 or later.
