Please excuse multiple postings...

The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for 2016 Summer Library Program grants<https://library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/lsta-grants/#AvailableGrants>. This grant will provide funds that enable public libraries to enhance their 2016 SRP with library-based activities that promote the health and wellness of participants and that support individual and community well-being.

The CSLP's (Collaborative Summer Reading Program) wellness-oriented 2016 programs, "On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!" (children's); "Get in the Game: Read" (teens), and "Exercise Your Mind: Read" (adults) lend themselves to creative, collaborative library programs and activities that promote the health and well-being of participants. Please note that use of CSLP themes and materials is NOT required in order for a library to be eligible for this LSTA grant.

Libraries applying for this grant will be especially encouraged to consider adopting or expanding (if already using) one or more of these opportunities:

  * The USDA Summer Food Service Program<https://library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/library-programs-development/youth-services/summer-food-service-program/>
  *   The Children's Museum of Manhattan's EatPlayGrow(tm) Curriculum<http://www.eatplaygrow.org/About/>
  * A project developed and implemented in partnership with agencies promoting wellness in your community
  * A project that includes the establishment of a food garden in conjunction with library services.

Applicants may request up to $1,500 in federal funds and all projects must include a 25% local cash match of the total project cost. If an applicant applies for $1,500 in federal funds, their local match must be $500.

Questions on the Ohio LSTA grant process should be addressed to Cindy Boyden cboyden at library.ohio.gov<mailto:cboyden at library.ohio.gov> or 800-686-1532 or 614-644-6863.
