[OPLINLIST] Notary Service @ the Library

Hi Kenton,

Our Fiscal Officer serves as a public notary at the library. We charge $1 per signature, so it's a purely nominal fee. The public makes great use of the service. Since most notaries in town work exclusively with a specific business or institution, we're not really competing with anyone.

We can't offer the service when she is on vacation, sick, etc. It hasn't caused any serious issues. I think the public is just grateful we offer the service.

We don't depositions, custody papers, or other court proceedings/papers. Otherwise, our staff member simply follows the rules governing notaries.

Hope that helps.

Matt

Subject: [OPLINLIST] Notary Service @ the Library

Hello: I would like to hear from library's that currently offer notary service to their patrons.

Do you charge for the service? How many staff serve as notaries...and from which departments? What are your restrictions (in any) on this service?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Regards, KD
