[OPLINLIST] Conservation Care Class and LSTA Opportunity

Registration is now open for the Ohio Preservation Council (OPC) Special Collections Conservation Care class.  The class will take place at the State Library<https://library.ohio.gov/about/contact-us/#GetDirections> of Ohio, June 15, 2017 from 9:30 am -12:30 pm.  Attendance at the class is a pre-requisite for institutions interested in applying for an LSTA Conservation grant, https://library.ohio.gov/documents/ohio-lsta-conservation-grant-rfp/.  Attendees will leave with an understanding of the criteria for selecting materials for conservation/preservation, basic evaluation considerations, how to find and work with a conservator, contracts and insurance and treatment documentation.  The class will include actual materials and a discussion of why or why not they are candidates for conservation treatment.   The final portion of the class will be a discussion by State Library LSTA staff on how to write a successful LSTA conservation proposal.  There is the potential for all attending institutions to receive full funding, $4,999, for their proposal.
Attendance is limited to 20 institutions, with a maximum of three individuals per institutions in attendance.  When registering please only include one name.  We will contact you for the names of all attendees prior to the workshop.  Registration closes May 31 or when the class is full.
