Full-Time Business Librarian

Position Summary:

The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County is seeking a Full-time Business Librarian. This position, based at the Main Library in the Information Services Department, oversees the Business and Investment Center (BIC), and advances these resources to area residents and the business community. The individual filling this position will serve as a liaison to community groups, professional organizations and other parties having interests in the areas of business, business development, entrepreneurship, investment, financial literacy and other related areas. Responsible for assisting and instructing library users individually and in groups to use library resources, particularly those of the BIC. Answers and/or facilitates customer reference questions.

This individual promotes reading and life-long learning by planning and conducting programs and presentations both in the library and off-site. Keeps library collections current and relevant and markets collections and services with attractive displays. Provides easily accessible library collections in a safe, clean, organized, and appropriate environment in a friendly, courteous manner.

Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, Business Administration or other business related field. Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of knowledge, competence and interest in business, business development, entrepreneurship, investment, financial literacy and other related areas.Well versed and skilled in use of Windows and Windows-based software. Above average communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong public speaking skills required.  Must be outgoing and courteous with a strong customer service philosophy. Travel to other library branches and community agencies and organizations is required.  Availability for extended or non-traditional hours as needed to perform job duties. This includes some evenings and Saturdays. Participation and attendance at promotional events and off-site meetings is required. Commitment to professional development.

Annual starting salary is $43,524 with an excellent fringe benefit package which includes pension plan with the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
