*Your professional, supervisory, and leadership skills will assist the
Library on Wheels outreach team in ensuring that patrons have a pleasant
and positive library experience.*

*Your active participation in library programs, events, and community
activities will enhance our community involvement and will maintain our
working relationship with retirement centers, schools, the community, and
local organizations.*

*Position:         Branch Manager*

*Location:        Will be based at the Library on Wheels depot Middletown,
Ohio*

*Hours:             Full-time, 40 hours per week, generally Monday -
Friday, may include some evenings, weekends, or holiday's*

*Salary:             Starts at $23.39 per hour; pay is more depending on
experience*

*ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES*

   - Provide leadership and direction to Library on Wheels team for all
   library services
   - Work to ensure that designated populations, such as nursing homes,
   assisted living centers, the homebound, schools, and the underserved have
   access to library resources by maintaining those relationships, while
   overseeing and managing the outreach visits, programs, events, and the
   bookmobile
   - Responsible for the efficient operation, orderliness, leadership,
   management, and supervision of the LOW team while meeting patrons needs
   - Perform a variety of supervisory duties for team, such as scheduling,
   training, staff development, discipline, and performance assessments
   - Oversee, and participate in, all public services operations including
   programming and outreach
   - Assist in the development of short and long term outreach goals,
   objectives and initiatives
   - Responsible for branch budget, approving and monitoring expenditures
   - Establish and maintain clear safety protocols for team at off-site
   locations and the bookmobile
   - Monitor bookmobile and outreach routes and scheduled services for
   maximum efficiency and effectiveness
   - Design and implement procedures and practices to facilitate service
   delivery in response to community needs and emerging technologies
   - Oversee and manage the talking book program
   - Oversee and manage branch volunteers
   - Work closely with other branch managers to ensure coordination of
   services
   - Other duties as requested or assigned.


 EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED


   - Bachelor’s degree required. MLS degree from ALA accredited school
   highly desired
   - Prior library outreach experience to diverse communities while
   building patnerships with the community is needed
   - Prior supervisory experience is required
   - Must have a valid drivers license and be insurable
   - Must be able to drive, ride, work, and operate all controls of a
   bookmobile vehicle
   - Prior experience with educational programming for audiences of all
   ages is required
   - Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects, frequent
   interruptions, tasks, and work in a fast paced environment, multi-task,
   prioritize, handle confidential information, work independently, and work
   in teams
   - Must be able to effectively problem solve complex problems, be
   organized, efficient, and creative
   - A strong service ethic, customer service skills, presentation skills,
   training skills, leadership, and communication skills are essential
   - Must be able to interpret and respond quickly to new or changed
   responsibilities and/or situations
   - Must be able to demonstrate a high level of supervisory and leadership
   skills
   - Must foster a successful team environment through selection,
   development, coaching, and motivation
   - Excellent computer skills including troubleshooting, using the ILS, MS
   Office, library databases, graphics programs, web page programs, Google
   Drive, social media skills, and advanced Internet skills are required
   - Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, budgeting and
   monitoring department expenditure skills are needed
   - Must be able to learn and carry out the essential responsibilities of
   the position
   - Must be able to read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand
   English effectively
   - Must have sufficient manual dexterity to operate library equipment
   - Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish, produce, and view a
   wide variety of materials in both print and electronic format as needed for
   position
   - Must be able to work in areas that may contain dust or other possible
   allergens
   - Must be able to regularly move up to 30 pounds up and down vehicle
   steps, move loaded book crates that could weigh up to 50 pounds, and move
   loaded book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds on and off bookmobile
   vehicle and inside library building
   - Regular and predictable physical attendance is required.
