The 15th anniversary Ohioana Book Festival takes place this week. Nearly 140 Ohio authors and illustrators will be taking part in panel discussions, readings, and conversations online from Thursday morning through Sunday afternoon. Floyd's Pick<https://library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/library-programs-development/ctro/floyds-pick/> is a book award developed by the Choose to Read Ohio (CTRO) Advisory Council and presented in memory of children's literature expert, advocate, and librarian Floyd Dickman. It is given annually to a book written by an Ohio author or a book illustrated by an Ohio illustrator that is representative of high-quality literature created for children. This all-star panel includes 2021 winner Aiko Ikegami and previous winners Oge Mora and Jacqueline Woodson. Moderated by Worthington Libraries Youth Services Librarian Desiree Thomas.

The State Library of Ohio, Ohioana Library Association and Ohio Center for the Book encourage Ohioans of all ages to read and enjoy books together. Each CTRO booklist highlights selected books for a two-calendar-year promotion. Join current and former CTRO authors Margaret Peterson Haddix, Will Hillenbrand, Tricia Springstubb, and Jasmine Warga as they discuss their fantastic books. Moderated by Thurber House Director of Children's Education Meg Brown.


Also, the Ohioana Book Festival virtual opening ceremony and sneak preview is tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. It will include some surprises, and also several giveaways - four $25 gift coupons from the official bookseller, the Book Loft of German Village, and a grand prize that includes not only the gift coupon but two complimentary tickets to the 80th anniversary Ohioana Book Awards, which will be held LIVE this October at the Ohio Statehouse.
